Biography
Growing up in Miami, FL, Jack excelled in math and science. He went on to earn a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, which led to a job in robotics at IBM Research. And this would have been his life, except... At the age of 12, a seemingly insignificant event occurred that would change Jack's destiny: He learned to juggle three tennis balls. Jack immediately fell in love with this new skill, often practicing for several hours a day between studies. While working at IBM, Jack began developing his comedy act and performing on weekends. A year later, he quit IBM to pursue a life of making people laugh. For over 15 years, Jack Kalvan has amazed audiences around the world with his unique mix of juggling and other odd skills, performing more than 3,000 shows in over 200 cities. From street performing to performing arts theaters and corporate motivational speaking. From the White House in Washington, DC to the Wintergarten in Berlin. Cruise ships, fairs, casinos, television and movies... Jack has done it all. TV appearances include: The Tonight Show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Drew Carey Show, NCIS, and Days of our Lives. Movie credits include: Alice in Wonderland and Coyote Ugly. Early in his juggling career, Jack earned respect in the juggling community for his skill and creative innovation. He won three gold medals from the International Jugglers Association and even set some world records. In 2006, Jack co-created and produced the Extreme Juggling Competition, to help promote the creativity and excitement of juggling. In addition to solo performances, Jack has also worked with a variety of partners, including his wife, Jeri, who is also a talented juggler and acrobat. Jack is based in Los Angeles. |
